Left to cherish his memories are a devoted mother and father, William F. He also made frequent visits to the Mississippi Department of Archives and History in Jackson, MS. While residing in Pontotoc, Jovernian worked as a self-employed consultant and spent his leisure time researching genealogy to determine possible relationships with others who shared the last name of Givhan-Cameron or Terry-Burnley. in Urbandale, Iowa where he remained until he returned to Mississippi and became a resident of Pontotoc. He furthered his career by going to work for United Information Services, Inc. After achieving his degree, he landed a job as an Application Analyst I at Pennington Biomedical Center and later obtained a position as a Visual Basic Applications Developer at Guardian Networks, Inc. Jovernian enjoyed traveling which led him to Baton Rouge, LA where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems and Decision Sciences (ISDS-MIS) with a minor in Economics from Louisiana State University. Overall, Jovernian was a very analytical person and versed on almost any subject matter that one might mention, which generally turned causal conversations with him into thought-provoking discussions. He was a spiritual-minded person who often engaged in deep thought about issues of great interest to him that others may have never given consideration. He became a member of Revels United Methodist Church at an early age where he regularly attended and served before leaving home to further his education at the University of Mississippi in Oxford, MS. He graduated from Greenville High School in 1979. ![]() Jovernian's childhood and early adult years were spent living in Greenville, MS with his parents and siblings where he attended Sacred Heart, Ella Darling, Lucy Webb, Mattie Akin, Solomon Jr. He transitioned from this life on September 22, 2022, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Bethlehem Original FWB Church Building Fund, 2106 S NC 111 Hwy, Chinquapin, NC 28521.Jovernian Algernon Givhan was born in Vicksburg, MS on February 1, 1961, to Rev. The family will be receiving friends at the home, 1853 S NC Hwy 111, Chinquapin. Interment will be Friday, March 30, 2018, at 11 A.M. ![]() at Serenity Funeral Home, 1100 S NC 41 Hwy, Beulaville, with visitation immediately following the service. Louise leaves behind one brother Gordon Sloan and wife Marie of Maple Hill sister-in-law Nelda Sloan of Channelview, Texas nephew Terry Sloan and wife Jackie sister-in-law Peggy Williams and husband Durwood, sister-in-law Reba Jones and life-long friend Kathleen Southerland, all of Chinquapin. ![]() Also surviving are eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Denise Jones Davis, Michael Jones, Justin Edwards, Leslie Edwards Ivey, Danielle Strickland Brown, Candice Strickland Haugene, Isabella Jones, and Logan Jones. Louise is survived by her five children, Craig Jones and wife Paula of Asheville Deborah Merritt and husband Billy of Rose Hill Lisa Edwards and husband Charles of Beulaville Melody Strickland and husband Tony of Chinquapin and Jody Jones of Dayton, Ohio. She also loved to travel, and more than anything Louise loved her family and friends. She had a love for gardening and she loved to shop. She was a member of Bethlehem Original FWB Church for most of her life. She was also preceded in death by her husband of forty years Gurman James Jones, brother Arthur Garland Sloan, and sister Eleanor Gray Sloan Sanders. ![]() Louise was born May 16, 1934, in Chinquapin to the late Arthur Sloan and Minnie Lee Lanier Sloan. Minnie Louise Sloan Jones, age 83, of Chinquapin, died Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at home. ![]()
